Overview
Community thrives at Dataw. With member-based clubs and volunteer opportunities too numerous to mention, in addition to the sports associations, you are sure to find the perfect opportunity for fellowship and camaraderie.
Dataw Island members often find themselves with social calendars brimming over. While not age-restricted, we do tend to attract the active retiree and those who truly appreciate all that membership offers.

Getting Involved
New and seasoned members alike often take part in “Island Friends”, 12-15 person social groups who are partnered by random selection to meet up throughout the year. Each participant has the opportunity to host an event of their choosing, whether a brunch, happy hour, or oyster roast, at their own home or in one of our many community settings, giving all members the opportunity to forge relationships with new folks each year.
Our sports Pros also each offer programming to help new members acclimate to our programs and partner up with appropriate groups. Whether you are an avid sportsman or consider liberal libations an integral part of play, our Pros will help you meet like-minded members of similar skills and interests.
Community Involvement
Recently, a group of Dataw Island volunteers surveyed others regarding where are how often they volunteer. Nearly 100 organizations for which Dataw members volunteer were identified, primarily in education, healthcare, veterans organizations, and helping the disadvantaged, as well as in helping the environment and in local government, with animals, and history and culture. If you feel a calling, there is likely a cause!
Member Organizations
Dataw Island members have created a multitude of “clubs within the club” to cover just about every interest imaginable…and, if you identify one that is not yet formed, you can use our internal member-to-member communications to gather others and start your own!
